 GREETINGS

Our association has been founded with 105 professionals and specialists from industries, research institutes, and academy who are interested in the international standardization activities when there was an attempt to build a world-wide computer network based on the OSI after OSI architecture was standardized at the international standard organizations such as ISO and ITU in 1987. As the scope of our standardization activities has been expanded to International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), and other various standard forums including MPEG, ICNF, KAICS, we has contributed to breakthrough researches regarding domestic and overseas standardization activities and the establishment of standards.

Up to this point, almost 500 domestic professionals and specialists voluntarily organized the specialist groups in respective areas, deployed standard development and technology promotion projects, and got involved in international standardization activities. Our achievements related to standardization activities have been released through workshops, science forums, and technical advisory services and we have contributed to the technology exchange and sharing between industries, academy, and research institutes. In addition, we take the lead on the standardization issues of information and communications either technologically or politically for Korea in a world of infinite competition through publishing and distributing various research reports and journals such as Standards & Technology Review (Formerly Open System).

Our association is a non-profit organization for joint research activities between industry, academy and research institutes. We have played a leading role for the standardization of information and communications technology. We will press forward for standardization activities so that the industries can rapidly cope with swiftly changing technology and international standardization.

In conclusion, I humbly ask members for your devoted contributions, efforts and supports.
